Jim wondered if he even wanted to resume his Hollywood career. It wasn’t until the spring of 1946, almost a full year after his homecoming, that Jim began work on his first postwar film. James Maitland Stewart was born on May 20, 1908, in Indiana, Pennsylvania, the eldest child and only son born to Elizabeth Ruth (née Jackson; 1875–1953) and Alexander Maitland Stewart (1872–1962).
